POSITION TITLE: Program Director, Get On The Bus
Get On The Bus mobilizes communities across California to improve the lives of women, children and families affected by the criminal justice system. Get On The Bus provides free transportation and a day filled with activities and remembrances for hundreds of children to visit parents in prison on the Fridays before Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
Get On The Bus is a one of three programs provided by the Center for Restorative Justice Works in its efforts to reform the current prison system based on restorative justice principles. In addition to developing, managing and promoting the annual events, the Program Director guides and builds a strong grassroots organization with hundreds of people working together to fund and fill buses with children and caregivers visiting parents in prison and to create a powerful voice for change.
The Program Director reports to the founding Executive Director and is a member of the senior management team for this rapidly growing nonprofit. Position supervises all part-time regional coordinators statewide and works closely with a wide range of stakeholders including prison administrators and parents in prison; Catholic dioceses; churches, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations; children and families of incarcerated parents; donors, vendors, criminal justice advocacy networks, and the media. Program Director raises funds for annual events and manages program budget.
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
• A strong personal sense of social justice and experience implementing initiatives;
• An understanding of the dynamics of children living with extended family or within foster care;
• Ability and willingness to proactively work within the current prison system to affect change;
• Excellent organizational, supervisory, project management, and program evaluation skills;
• Vision and enthusiasm for mission that attracts donations, volunteers and community support;
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to build rapport and connect with individuals at all levels,
• Ability to organize and present trainings; skill in public speaking and written communications;
• Use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and the Internet
Education and Experience:
• Undergraduate degree required, Master’s degree preferred; preferably in social services or criminal justice related field or a commensurate combination of education and experience. Masters degree preferred.
• 3-5 years experience in project management in increasingly responsible positions required, preferably including training, event planning, team-building, and supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience working with prisons, criminal justice advocacy groups, children’s services, Catholic churches and other faith-based organizations, advocacy and outreach (speaking and print/web media), fundraising campaigns, community building, and/or volunteer management preferred.

North Hollywood, CA
Salary Information: Position is full-time with excellent salary and benefits package, DOE
Salary Range is $47,500 - $55,000 Benefits package includes Health, Dental and Vision plans, 401K, 10 days paid sick, 15 days paid vacation and paid holidays.
