Sustaining the Soul
Drop-in Groups / Second Sunday & Fourth Monday
New from OneLife Institute! Drop-in support groups now meet twice each month, on the second Sunday (4-6PM) and fourth Monday (7-9PM).
Open to all. Activists and folks involved in community service especially encouraged to attend. (Help prevent burnout!)
These facilitated groups provide a safe and affirming place to receive emotional and spiritual support in a caring community setting. Offered free of charge.
Meeting Location: Ella Baker Center,
344 - 40th St (near Broadway), in Oakland.
When: Every 2nd Sunday & 4th Monday -
Upcoming dates: Feb 14 & 22, March 14 &
March 22, April 11 & 26, etc.

Energy Healing Clinic
Beginning Monday, February 8 I will be hosting an Energy Healing "clinic" on alternate Monday evenings in Temescal, North Oakland
Energy Healing Drop in Evenings
· Repeats on alternate Mondays: call or email for dates
· 30 minute treatments by experienced energy healers
· $20 drop-in fee ($15 for social justice, trauma or anti-violence workers)
· Activate the healing energy in your body
· Relieve pain and stress
· Work on specific physical blocks & injuries
· Reduce impact of vicarious trauma
· Emotional first aid
· Learn simple self-care practices to support your work

Trauma Stewardship: Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others
A workshop for Bay Area anti-violence and social justice communities
Date: Thursday, October 8th, 2009
Time: 9 AM--4 PM
Location: The Women’s Building in San Francisco’s Mission
Cost: sliding scale: $50-$75
($25-$75 for DVC members)
Food: a low or no-cost light lunch will be provided
The Domestic Violence Consortium (DVC), Vanissar Tarakali, Asian Women's Shelter, the Survivor Restoration Program & Community United Against Violence (CUAV) are delighted to bring Laura van Dernoot Lipsky’s Trauma Stewardship workshop to the Bay Area!
Laura’s message to our communities is a fierce and inspiring wake up call. She is the acclaimed author of Trauma Stewardship: An Everyday Guide to Caring for Self While Caring for Others (www.traumastewardship.com), which addresses the pervasive, hidden or unconscious aspects of vicarious and secondary trauma in a fresh way. Drawing on two de cades of trauma work experience and global wisdom traditions, Laura has developed a holistic approach to transform the cumulative, debilita ting impacts of ongoing trauma exposure on individuals, organizations, and communities. A compassionate and humorous presenter, Laura will share insights and practices to support sustainable social justice/anti-violence work. Trauma Stewardship workshop participants can expect to take away an increased understanding of the importance of self-care and practical tools to sustain the work.
