Volunteer with SF Women Against Rape!

Volunteer as a Certified Rape Crisis Counselor!

“SFWAR is not a rape crisis center. It’s a community – of survivors, of allies, of fierce folks speaking out, speaking together, speaking their truth. I’ve worked at many social service non-profits, and SFWAR walks its anti-oppression talk. I have been humbled and bettered from my many experiences with staff and clients there.” - Volunteer
Women of color who are trans or queer, Young women who are 20 years old or younger, Latina women who are immigrants, women who are elders, women who live in an SRO/who are marginally housed, and women who have been in jail or prison are strongly encouraged to apply.

-$150 Stipend for native speakers of languages other than English (+$18/hr for services provided in those languages)
-Volunteer from home (commit to volunteer 16-32 hours/month for 1 year)
-Free 75+ hour training (They happen 3 times a year, see chart below)

Services You Can Provide:
-Hotline (from home or other confidential location)
-Outreach (in the community)
-Advocacy (on-call at home/ then go to SFGH if called)
-Presentations (at schools)
-Counseling (at SFWAR office)

Applications Due: Dec 1 Apr 1 Aug 1
Training Months: Jan/Feb May/June Sept/Oct

Volunteer Rape Crisis Counselor Training: Aps Due 11/25


That's right beautiful folks! We have another training starting in January and over the years the majority of our applications come in from the amazing people who are already hear spreading the word! Please please, spread the SFWAR love!

Interviews have already begun and applications are due by November 25th! I recommend that folks get their applications in as soon as possible.

In particular please spread the word to folks who are or have been: marginally housed or homeless, formerly incarcerated, immigrants, youth (currently 20 and under), trans and queer women of color.
